MgA. Petr Šporcl


One of the best Czech violoncellist and chamber musician Petr Sporcl (1969) started to play cello at the age of seven in the School of Arts with Prof.Rudolf Weiss. He then continued his studies at the Prague Conservatoire in a class of Prof. Frantisek Pisinger where he graduated with Dvorak´s cello concerto. In 1990 he started to study at the Prague Academy of Music with Prof. Daniel Veis. One year later he was selected as one of forty students from the whole world to study at the Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, USA. There he attended class of Prof. Christopher Adkins, concertmaster of Dallas Symphony and graduated with the Artist Certificate Program in June 1993. In 1995 he then graduated at the Prague Academy of Music.(Prof. D.Veis).

Petr Sporcl became winner and laureate of prestigious international competitions – Beethoven’s Hradec, Corpus Christi, SMU Concerto competiton, Ima Huck.

From 1994-1997 he had been a concertmaster of the Prague Chamber Philharmony under the chief director Jiri Belohlavek and played all over the world.

He has performed as a soloist with many of Czech orchestras. The audience could listen to his mastery also in Germany and Italy. He has made recordings for Czech Radio and TV stations.

In October 1994 he was one of the founders of the M.Nostitz Quartet. As a member of M.N.Q. he took 1.prize of the International String Quartet Competition in Heerlen (Holand,1997), 1.prize of the International String Quartet Competition in Cremona (Italy,1998) and he is a Laureate of the Prague Spring String Quartet Competition(1998). The M.N.Q. has so far with great success performed in Germany, Spain, Italy, France, Great Britain, Japan, China, USA.

Petr Sporcl is desired solo and chamber music player. He has a brilliant technique and very personal view of music making.
